I was recently in Reno NV back in April and I was having trouble with my laptop of less than 6 months old, after a corrupt windows update froze my laptop on the welcome screen. I decided that since I was on vacation I would just take it to the Geek Squad and let them fix it while I was out enjoying my day. After them having it all day they told me they had to do a diagnostic on it. $69.. I paid them and said do it. Well they found nothing and said they would have to do a recovery to factory on it... Another $130... I paid it and said do it. After two days I get it back with them saying the recovery was done, everything was fine, they did all my updates for me, all was good. Well I get it back to the hotel room and we spent the rest of the day out. The next day we head out of Reno and home. When I get home I turn on my laptop to find out, there is no sound, my mouse track isnt' working. I am missing a pile of drivers, there is over 40 updates waiting to be installed, I am missing all of the software that came with my laptop that would have reinstalled with the recovery had it been done right. I had to spend the day trying to get the drivers I needed just to try to operate my laptop. The software was another thing, no chance of that. $200 and two days later and they have totally screwed up my laptop. Turns out they were trainees who had no training on how to repair computers... What a waste of money and time. I contacted HP customer service who sent me some recovery disks that would not work because my laptop was saying it could not accept this media recovery software. The HP assistant told me that my BIOS was messed up. Turns out that geek squad changed my bios and deleted the older versions so I could not go back. My recovery drive was also cleared of the older updates so there is no going to back to anything. My software has beed deleted so no restoring that. I am not in the process of returning my laptop to HP to have them fix what the IDIOT SQUAD messed up and put it back to factory. Never never again will i ever use geek squad again!!!
