I purchased my first GE washer in Nov. 07. This month Jan. 09), I called a local serviceman to address a drain problem. He told me the "bearings" were going out on my washer and that I should call GE right away. GE sent a serviceman out, who said I need a new outer tub, mode shifter, and motor. GE will not cover the labor or service call because it has been more than 12 months (by two months) since I purchased the machine. However, I did not know to call before the local serviceman told me about the problem incident to servicing the drain. GE refuses to budge, and I will never buy a GE appliance again. Customers should not be held to the standard of appliance repair people in diagnosing problems with their machines.
