Enterprise Car Rental
Buyer Beware!

This report is true and accurate. My wife flew to the Bay Area for a job interview in October. She flew into San Jose airport on a Saturday. She chose the airport Enterprise company based on their pricing. The first day she used the car only to drive from the airport to the Marriott in Palo Alto and a nearby Walmart. The next day it sat in the hotel's secure parking lot as she was with my son. Her interview was scheduled for Monday at 8:30 A.M.

When she got out to the rental car at 7:30 A.M., on Monday it wouldn't start. No sound at all. My wife is a very intelligent woman and she did nothing to cause this like leaving on the headlights. She called Enterprise right away to report the problem. From this point forward all the responses from contacts with all Enterprise staff including the SJ airport facility "manager" a Mr. Larkin, were contentious. They claimed it could be her fault because they could not prove she had not caused the car to not start! Now she was very stressed. She had an important job to get to. Only because my son lives so close to the hotel, was home at the time and could take her to San Jose did she arrive in time for the interview.

Following the interview she continued the discussion with Enterprise. They claimed since she had not purchased the "roadside assistance" coverage, she was liable to pay for the tow fee to the garage. When she rented the car, of course the "staff" didn't go into detail explaining anything unless she knew to ask and what to ask about. You see! Buyer Beware!

From that point on she just got blamed and stonewalled. They had her "coming and going, " see?
The trick play is this: You the hapless customer will pay extra either way. If you purchase "roadside assistance" and don't need it Enterprise has made $ off of you. If you don't purchase this "coverage" and the car breaks down for any reason YOU pay the bill because YOU cannot prove it wasn't your fault.

All the Enterprise "staff" weren't the least bit decent to her about this. This is why I am writing this review of them everywhere on the web I can in order to warn consumers.

It is likely other if not all rental companies engage in this practice. I don't know. Be sure to inquire about the subject when renting.

In the end due to the very crude, mean way they dealt with my wife, I encourage all to rent with another company.
