Chavis Auto Service charged me $2,231.16 to fix the emissions system on a 1997 Mercury Mystique worth only about $2,000.00. When the engine light came back on, they said that they didn't have the right equipment to diagnose and fix the problem and that I should take my business to the dealer.
I wanted them just to finish the rest of the repair for free. They basically said "get lost." I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee, the Tennessee Department of Consumer Affairs, and the Federal Trade Commission. If this doesn't work, then I have a lawyer set up to sue them in Civil Court.
I think that this is the most flagrant and outrageous auto repair ripoff that I have seen. (Now that I know about this website, I know that I'm not the only victim out there.)
