Mercury Auto Transportation
Rude to/cussed girlfriend and her siste

My girlfriend was moving from Connecticut to Texas, and was having her car shipped so she could meet me in Atlanta while I was home on leave (I am an active duty servicemember). The morning (EARLY morning) she flies out to Texas and we don't get to see each other again for God knows how long I wake up to her on the phone with a guy yelling at her. He is yelling so loud I can hear him, on the phone, from the other room. My girlfriend is trying to get a word in but the guy isn't listening, just telling her to shutup while he goes on and on.

The altercation is over the fact that he is there at her sister's house with the car 12 hours early. Her sister is a teacher at a local school and has already left for work, and cannot leave because teachers can't just leave work, a substitute must be found. He had not called my girlfriend, the owner of the car, beforehand. She can't reason with him, and talks to his dispatcher, who I also hear from the other room.

My girlfriend is becoming distraught (she is already upset because I go back overseas the next day) so I get on the phone and the guy is like "who are you, put back on". I tell him she's upset and I'll be talking for her. I try (briefly) to reason with the guy but he immediately starts interrupting me and yelling, and no real communication is possible at all, so I tell him something along the lines of "if you can't honor the contract we'll talk to a lawyer" and hang up (more yelling as I do this).

We then contact the original agent who set up the move and he chastises us for threatening the guy. I tell him there were no threats made, I was very patient despite the yelling, and I don't see why talking to a lawyer should upset them if they're behaving like they should. The guy was very unprofessional on the phone, paraphrasing back to me what I had told the dispatcher as "blah blah blah", and I say "look man, calm down, let's just get this solved" which is what we've been trying to do for about an hour now. I get on the line with the owner of the company who tells me it's a big inconvenience and he's going to drop the car in a city 4 hours away (the dispatcher had said this too, very rudely). I ask him if he can drop it at the school where the sister works and he says yes if we pay cash. I call the sister, it's a major deal to interrupt a class to get her on the phone, and she doesn't have $750 cash. The guy refuses to take a check (very suspicious) so I end up paying by driving to a bank and doing a transfer directly into his bank account. His drivers, two Arab guys, one of which was the original rude person, drop the car at the school and tell the sister to sign the inspection form saying they didn't damage the car. She asks them where the car is so she can inspect it. They ask her rudely why it matters, and she replies with the common-sense answer. They finally take her to the car, and while she is inspecting it they call her a bitch IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN AT THE SCHOOL!

I have never heard of such blatant antagonism from somebody trying to get you to give them $750. I was angry that they reduced my girlfriend to tears, cussed out her sister at a school, and made me spend the entire last morning before I returned to my assignment running around trying to make deposits while talking to hostile people on the phone. Not only am I pissed but I have a genuine urge to track these guys down with some of my Navy buddies and curb-stomp them! Since I am a mature adult, rather than giving into my heart's burning desire, I will spread this story to as many people as possible: it speaks for itself. Do not give these guys your money and will the fbi please investigate them for tax evasion!?!?!
