Dodge Service Department NOT Five Star -What do we do when we are taken advantage of? File a complaint!

I took my 98 Dodge Durango in for repairs as I was getting a new car and wanted it ready for sale. The ABS light and brake light came on for the 3rd time in 3 yrs. While it was in the shop I mentioned that the brake fluid was low and I seemed to be losing a lot of oil.

I signed a statement requesting a written estimate as my warranty had expired for all repairs over $95,4 hours later the service manager came to me and said the sensory light needed repair and they ran a diagnostic showing my PVC valve would need to be replaced and the repairs would cost $185.

At first I refused and was told that my bill would then be around $140 because they ran the diagnostic. I argued that I had requested a written estimate for repairs over $95 and I was told that the repairs were less than $95 but the diagnostic was an additional charge and for a few dollars more my oil conusmption problem would be solved.

I called around and most places wanted a minimum of $65 for diagnostic not including repairs so reluctantly, I agreed to let Orlando Dodge repair my vehicle.

I brought the SUV home and parked it. 2 weeks later I discovered ALL my transmission fluid on the ground.

I called and asked the same service department to fix the problem, can you guess what their reply was?"We cannot determine if the problem arose from what we did, but if you would like to bring the SUV in for a $75 sevice fee we will take a look at it? If we find ourselves to be at fault there will be no cost to you." (Yea right!) Needless to say I will never take a vehicle there again.

Oh by the way, while I was there another woman (did I forget to mention that I was a woman) was told her repairs would cost about $450.

After about 6 hours she was told that they could not repair her vehicle as they originally told her and that the cost would now be $1200 for additional parts. She had a choice take the broken car for $450 or leave it there over night for $1200 and they would fix it. Needless to say she had no choice.

So what can you do when your taken advantage of? File a consumer complaints!
