We bought a Plymouth Voyager minivan NEW in 1996. Never wrecked or abused and always maintained regularly.By the time it was all done, we had spent over $17,000 in repairs and maintenance just to keep this vehicle running. Many of these repairs had to be done several times, and many of these repairs resulted in rip-off by dealerships' repair shops!
I kept all of my receipts throughout the ownership of this vehicle, and made a running log of all of my repairs. Using published Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), I was even able to prove that almost $7,000 of the repairs we had to make were as a result of KNOWN FACTORY DEFECTS! I wrote to the dealership from which I had bought this minivan and was ignored. I wrote to DaimlerChrysler and got a cryptic "non-answer".
I went to the Chrysler zone office here in Houston, Texas, and was shrugged off by their "customer service" representative, who wouldn't even acknowledge that $17,000 was an excessive amount to spend on vehicle maintenance over a 6-year period (apparently this is usual for DaimlerChrysler products). He took the attitude of "you bought it - it's your problem now."
