A few months ago we took our van to this shop because we had issues with it. After over a week at the shop, and the fact they had no idea what was going on, finally they said we needed a new engine. We receive a fax with a quote close to $5,000 for a Jasper engine, brand new water-pump and extras. We told them to go ahead with the repairs because it is our work vehicle, we travel long distances, and we need it to be in optimum condition. Three days after we received the vehicle back with the new engine, the vehicle started doing the same thing! This time he said he replace the water-pump (the one we assumed was NEW based on the quote). A few days later driving about 100 miles away the van broke down on our way to a job site! The darn thing came LOOSE! We had to call a towing company to take it back home over 100 miles. At this point, all we want is a refund for the towing bill. The owner refuses to pay the towing bill unless we sign them a release. I will NOT sign any release because they did a lousy job and should be responsible for anything else that may go wrong with it. I found dirty rags inside the new engine, AC conductor covers and other parts missing were dumped on the back of the van and some never found. I finally took the van to the dealership to find out why the van was still shaking and to check on what he did. To my surprise I was told that some spark plug cables and other parts that should have been replaced were OUTDATED. TO MAKE IT WORSE, we called the company that sold him the engine because he doesn't want to honor the warranty if something goes wrong, and we were told that the warranty on the engine is VOIDED because he did not replace the water pump, which is REQUIRED when replacing the engine. Oh. And the engine he quoted me (Jasper) is NOT what he installed either. All he does is make excuses for what went wrong, one excuse after another, instead of admitting they did a horrible job, pay the towing bill, and get it over with. How much I paid the towing company is irrelevant. The fact is that if the job would have been done correctly, I would've never had to tow it to begin with. Period. Take responsibility and pay the bill without trying to blackmailing me giving up my rights as a consumer.
