Bought a car from Platinum Auto Exchange in Arlington Heights, Il on May 8th
Mini Cooper,66, 000 miles. Ad stated engine and transmission in PERFECT running order. (I have the screen shot of the ad). Also i was told verbally as well on more then one occasion while looking at the car with a friend.
I bought the can "as-is" 48 hours later and 35 miles i actually put on the car, i take it to a Mini Dealer in Chicago, they tell me it needs a new transmission among other things that are going to be expensive to fix.
I took it for a second opinion the next day, same thing, needs new transmission. I have documentation from both mechanics.
Platinum Auto Exchange will do NOTHING. They also said they wired the money to the consignment person who was selling the car because they do consignment and bank cars. To find out, a receipt i found in the back seat, they bought that car and another from an auto auction here in chicago!
I would be open to hear from any attorneys or people that might have been "rip-off" by this company as well. Again be VERY careful with Platinum Auto Exchange
