No go! Ripoffs don't stand behind their work!

Please, do not go to aamco...

4 rebuilds in less than 4,000 miles!!! And still not working right!!!

January I took my 94 Chrysler Mini-Van with 104,000 miles to AAMCO in Omaha, NE. Paid $500, financed $1000 for repairs and warranty. The van still shuddered when shifting under load conditions. Took it back twice, they said there were no problems.

Three months later, the transmission melted down two days before our family vacation to South Dakota. Since it was a weekend, had to rent another van for the trip. Called AAMCO, had them tow the van in and check it out. The entire planetary gear assembly melted together. Found out after heated inquiries that the assembly had never been replaced in the first rebuild. Also found out they had to do two (2) rebuilds the first time since the tranny melted down on the test bed in the shop. They did another rebuild and I got my van back a week later. Drove it home and parked it in the driveway. Got into it the next morning to put gas in it and no forward or reverse. Called them back again and very directly told them to tow the van and fix it. Also told them I wanted to see the owner. Called the corporate office as well and filed two seperate complaints. Stated that if they didn't fix it right this time, I would not make any further payments until I was satisfied it was done correctly. The owner of the shop then siezed my van and would not release it until I paid in full. Call an attorney and under the finance contract, he had that right. Paid for the van and picked it up. Found out my "NEW" torque converter had melted down. They replaced it but never completely rebuilt the tranny.in fact, everytime I asked to see parts, they never could produce all of them.

When I got the van back I noticed a constant vibration whenever the van was put into drive. Drove it for 3 days, and went back. It sounded like the rear end of an old truck. Manager stated that the problem was the motor mounts. I had them replaced only two months prior. Went to another transmission shop "Certified Transmission" and discovered that the entire drive train "motor and transmission" had been maladjusted over to the drivers side and was riding on the frame. Certified adjusted this for $26 and stated that because of this, the drive shafts had been damaged and needed to be replaced. Went back to AAMCO and they refused to pay anything. Still maintained that the motor mounts were bad.in the mean time, the tranny was still slipping under load.

4 transmissions in 4,000 miles. Took the van on a short trip, about 60 miles and the problem got worse as I drove. Decided to trade the van in for a newer one. Filed reports with the BBB and local state attorney general. The owner finally contacted me at that point and stated he had done everything correctly and was not at fault. Still maintained he had given us 1st class service under warranty.

My personnel recommendation, DO NOT GO TO AAMCO. Get a remanufactured tranny from places like Jasper and others that are truely reputable and will stand behind their work!!!
