So why can't I collect on it?
My husband was rear-ended by another vehicle on 2-14-01. Due to this accident he was required to have surgery to remove two hernias. He was unable to work for a total of 16 weeks. We cooperated with Progressive in every way, but they still refused to pay any medical bills, medication or lost wages.
The adjuster kept telling us to get medical record after medical record as far back as 1995. Everytime we would get one thing they would ask for another.
The adjuster finally stated she was only going to pay for 50% of everything. This didn't even happen for 9 months later. Stating one of the hernias was a previous medical condition. Even though they could not find any evidence to back this up. She even admitted that if it was a previous injury. Progressive was still liable for upsetting it, but still refuses to pay the other 50%.
My husband and my 12 year old daughter were again involved in an accident on 5-20-01. They were sitting still on a one way bridge. The other driver skidded 80 feet and hit my car head on.
A Progressive adjuster came out measured the skid marks and stated, In no way could my husband be at fault, but the other driver 100%. I phoned Progressive a week later to find out when my car would be repaired, to only be informed. They had agreed with AllState that it was a 50/50 accident.
Not only was this a shocker, I had to fight with Progressive for 3 months to have my car repaired. I carry full coverage, and my car was a 2000 model valued at almost 30,000 dollars.
I must add that none of the Medicals bills have been paid on this accident either, but the driver who should have been at complete fault was paid promptly by Progressive.
I'm writing this to inform others, I have never encountered an insurance carrier like Progressive. You must fight to collect on your PIP coverage, and have your vehicle repaired when carrying Full Coverage Insurance.
Don't make the same mistake I did!!! Progressive may be cheaper, but you'll pay in the long run.
