Ripoff deceptive sales tactics Highland Park

Everyone knows buying a car requires a certain amount of due diligence and time on the buyers part if they want to cut the best deal possible. Also, whether it's fair or not let's face it car salesman don't have the best track record for there honesty. Because of that stigma I always dread buying a new car, but have never had a worse experience than we did at HighlandPark Ford.

After months of shopping around my husband comes home with a picture of the new truck he wants to purchase and tells me he just cut a deal for x amount of money, which the salesperson wrote down on the back of his business card. This was to be a cash deal that's why my husband came home, to get me and the checkbook.

We arrive back at Highland Park Ford and go into the sales persons office and he proceeds to go over the numbers with us. Right off the bat the price is 293.00 dollars more than my husband was quoted [WHICH THE SALESPERSON HAD WROTE ON THE BACK OF HIS BUSINESS CARD.] We question him about this and an additional rebate we think we may be entitled to from the factory and he has a hard time answering, so he leaves to get his sales manager.

The sales manager comes in and says he will have to check with Ford comes back again and says we are not entitled to the additional rebate and sorry the truck is indeed 293.00 more than was originally quoted [we still have the business card with the agreed on purchase price.]

Needless to say the negotiation became a little heated and I tried to tell the sales mananger that in my opinion during negotiations a buyer and a seller both want to feel like they have made a good deal and at that point you have a meeting of the minds and consumate the deal. He told me I was doubletalking and confusing him and I replied 'Ha, that will be the day when a consumer confuses a salesmanager.By the end of all of this the price went up another 700.00 dollars, so know the truck is 993.00 more than my husband was quoted.

Needless to say we did not purchase the truck and it is my opinion that Highland Park Ford practices deceptive sales practices, I believe they tell you one price and once your'e in their sales ofiice their betting on the fact that if the numbers change a little you'll be to excited to walk away from the deal after spending so much time. I would caution anyone to be very careful if considering a deal with HighlandPark Ford.
