A few weeks ago I took my car into a specialty auto shop in Dallas, TX called Baertrax. My issue was a rear pinion seal leak in my differential. I was charged $308 for the seal to be replaced. When I got home I noticed that it was still leaking. I called the owner back up and told him the continuing issue and was told to bring it back in. When I brought it back the following day I was told that there was no leaking at all. I replied that it was impossible since everyday I come home I clean up a new puddle in my garage. The owner tells me that he will drive it around to see if it leaks because obviously its only leaking after being driven. I told him that I had a modified transmission that needed to be shifted quickly and accurately because it can be damaged if not done properly to which he says will be no problem. After a few days I don't hear back from him I call the shop before they close on Wednesday. He says I can pick it up Thursday morning but I have to do it before noon and the next day he will be closed. At that point I couldn't understand why he didnt call me and let me know that I could just come and pick the vehicle up before he closed and I miss out on getting my car for a few more days. I show up today (Thursday morning), the owner Josh tells me that my car is "stuck" in 2nd gear and it can't be driven! Josh is not happy that I am suspect of his driving skills in my modified transmission and tells me that he is offended that I think he trashed my car. I am out the 308 dollars and now I leave the shop with a broken transmission that now has
to be shipped back to Detroit to be fixed. What can I do? Nothing really. I went on Yelp and posted a review and I also went on the Baertrax FB page and posted about my terrible business encounters with them.in addition I posted my unhappiness with the owner and posted a link to the website that creates these modified transmission in the hope that I teach this "Know it all" a little bit about this piece of machinery he mistreated. Not more than 15 minutes pass after these posts when I get a call from him threatening to sue, claiming that his sister is a lawyer. I told him "OK, WHATEVER" and hung up on him. How about that guys? I'm the one who gets ROYALLY screwed and I am threatened with a lawsuit. This dude is a piece of "work."
