On Thursday 9 February I received a mailing for an extended warranty offer. I contacted the company and speaking with a gentleman I believe his name is Rick, I was given a quote. After telling he we could not afford the offer I was transferred to a "supervisor" who said he could offer us a military discount. I was given a second quote however; this supervisor became forceful when I informed him I needed to wait to speak with my husband.
I figured since I had been told I could gain a refund within 30 days I would go ahead. After two hours I changed my mind (I had an unsettled feeling about the whole deal) and when I attempted to cancel the policy I was informed the customer service department was closed for the day. I then contacted my bank, had my card cancelled and asked to have the charge denied.
Unfortunately, CarSafe had already placed a hold on the $195 and the bank stated I would have to wait to see if it went through and if necessary I could file a dispute. On 10 February at around 0830 I contacted customer service and requested a cancellation. I was grilled for the reason and providing them with the reason that I had felt pressured and wanted to cancel the gentleman became combative. I again requested that the policy be cancelled I was placed on
Hold. After 1-2 minutes the gentleman returned and again began grilling me forcibly about why I was cancelling the policy. I politely told the man that he needed to stop asking me why I was cancelling and just finish whatever process he needed to. His voice then escalated and he began shouting. I believe he said at one point that the process had been cancelled and that the money had never been taken from the account.
Unfortunately, the man I spoke with was so forceful and was talking about things that I wasn't able to follow I was unsure if the policy has actually been cancelled. I checked my bank account when I arrived at home and the money had not been taken from my account. However, this morning 11 February when I again checked my account the money had been withdrawn.
