I apologize; I have few details because the incident happened several years ago, before complaint existed.
I rented a car from Enterprise in Montreal, and returned the car in the morning, before the rental facility was open. So I left the keys in the drop box. I did not damage the car.
A week or two later, I received a bill for more than $100 for unspecified damages. No one examined the vehicle when I was there, and I dispute that I did any damage to it at all.
I have a clean record of vehicle rentals over many years, but now I cannot rent from Enterprise or any of the rental companies owned by the same group. This includes the three major rental companies. I understand that this practice is not uncommon when you rent cars in foreign countries.
