Found this service on Craigslist and called the guy (Steve Jordan) and explained to him over the phone what my truck was doing. He told me that he was a mobile mechanic and that he could come to my location and look at my truck. He come out on Friday July 22 and explained to me that it would a $50.00 diagnostic fee and if i agreed to the service then he would wave it. He proceeded to look under my hood and without any tools said that my battery was bad. He advised me that it would be $157.90 for the battery and that he needed money for the battery and for the fee. I gave him $200.00 so that he could go the automotive store and purchase a battery. Bout an hour later he called me on the phone and told me that the supply house didn't have my battery in stock and that they would have to order it and he would pick it up round 4:30 the same day and bring it out to me. While on the phone he told me that he had done some research on the internet pertaining to the make and model of my truck and stated that, " when ford's were built the manufacture ran the wiring harness next to the exhaust which caused the protective sheath to melt and cause a direct short". He advised me that a new harness would be $100.00. When he arrived round 5:00 pm the same day without the parts that i had purchased, he told me that he had to drive to Humble to pick the parts up. Before i got outside he had already had my battery disconnected and stated that he had looked under my truck and the harness was defective. He then proceeded to tell me that my battery was cracked (which i feel he intentionally did, due to the fact that it was a fresh crack) and that would come to my residence once he picked up the parts in Humble. He then took my battery out of my truck and placed his used car battery in my automobile so that i could make it home. Now mind you i had been driving my truck for the previous weeks with this bad battery. Round 9 pm that night he sent me a text stating that he was unable to pick up the parts and that he would attempt to get them the next day. It has been 4 days since this took place and he has not replaced the items nor has he issued a refund for services not provided. The sad thing is that he provided me a receipt stating the he preformed the work which was a lie. I took it upon myself to run a background check on this guy and what do you know. He is a convicted felon out of Texas for several theft charges ranging from less than 5k to theft up to 25k. I have spoken to the police department in the jurisdiction that is in the area of the offense and they are willing to accept the charge. This guy has no common sense to do the right thing. I ask that if you have done business with this person and have been a victim of theft then please do contact Hedwig Village PD to file a complaint.
