On 1/27/05 my car would not start. I called a tow truck who came and jumped my car. He suggested I take my car to my local Les Schwab to have my battery checked out. When I got there, my car would not start again, and the service guy tried to jump it. He said he couldn't understand why it wouldn't start because the battery had plenty of juice,
They pushed it into their work bay. After 30 minutes I was told the battery was bad and needed to be replaced. They said for my car, 1998 Concord, they had a battery for $69.95, plus the $30 to install it. I agreed. After an hour, they said they were almost done, and I paid my $99.95. THen they came out and said that with the new battery my car would not start.
The service man said now he thought it was my starter. I asked him what I'm supposed to do? He said call a tow truck because they don't do starters. I said, " I was able to drive my car here, pay you $100 and now you're telling me to have it towed?" He said that my battery was still bad and needed to be replaced. They pushed my car out into the parking lot, and were done with me.
I called another tow truck and had my car towed to a mechanic down the street.
It took him 10 minutes to look at my car and tell me there's nothing wrong with my starter.in fact, he said there was probably nothing wrong with my battery. He said the cable connecters on my battery were so corroded, and so bad, that's why my car wouldn't start. He said the fact that Les Schwab didn't even look at that, tell me about it or replace them was a crime in itself.
Les Schwab saw a woman coming, and completely ripped me off.
