I just left Just Brakes and am hoping that someone will read this report and go anywhere else to get brake pads. As advertised, the price quoted is $99.00 for new pads, however when you arrive, they actually have you sign a form that says (and I'm paraphrasing) "If we inspect your car and can't put it back together because the parts are too damaged, you're responsible for paying for this." Please read that again. BEFORE any work is done on your car, or an estimate given, they basically are telling you that the mechanic will remove the tires from your car and if they want to tell you they cannot put them back on due to "damaged parts" you will pay to fix your car rather than drive off to obtain other estimates.
The mechanic performed his brake inspection and then he and his manager walked me out to my car to provide a long list of items that needed to be repaired. My $99.00 brake job turned into a $600.00 quote after the tires were pulled off the car. As a female, I am happy to see that these jerks do this to men as well (sorry guys.) I basically told them they were out of their minds and that I would pay them $99.00 for pads but they needed to put my car together ASAP. The mechanic asked me, "well, what CAN you afford to do today?" Seriously? Am I buying a used car? I kept waiting for someone to roll out from under another car and yell, "what do we need to do to get you in this car today?"
I did walk out of the garage to call another mechanic and determine if the estimate was a joke and while I was on the phone, the Just Brakes mechanic put new wheel cylinders on my car! The cost? $185.00 and I drove off with no pads!
Please, please please, avoid this company and others like them. I will be sending a letter to the organization, but based on the information I have read, do not expect to receive a response. I am just hoping to spare another lady (and perhaps some of you men as well) the same terrible experience.
