My USMC son broke down (overheated) on I-95 on 7/6 in AM close to Ormond Beach. He was on his way back to Camp Lejeune to check in. He found Lucky's on his phone GPS and had his 98 Mercury Sable towed to the shop. A $65 charge.
At first he was told his car had a blown head gasket and a "piston misfiring" by Dustin. Dustin did a block test, told him the block was good and then told him his radiator was "clogged" and replaced it. It still overheated. Dustin then told him it was his thermostat. They replaced it. A $371.00 charge.
Then Dustin told him he had a blown head gasket, ticking cylinder, and needed a new motor!
Lucky's had the car THREE days and couldn't fix it!!!
I paid a trailer rental fee of $138.00 and my wife and my son towed the car back to Miami, FL.
I took it to my mechanic, who had the car less than 30 minutes and diagnosed a faulty water pump.
I don't think anyone at Lucky's is competent. Certainly not Dustin. I think all they care about is getting as much money as they can as easy as they can.
