Over the last year I have written about the saga of the sludged engine we acquired when we bought our 1997 V6 Camry. We are finally headed for small claims court and a possible appearance on the Peoples Court.
What did we learn? Well plenty. We made some stupid mistakes and we believed what the manufacturer advertised, and the dealer promised.
Toyota of USA turned out to be unresponsive, untruthful and a downright liar about caring about customer satisfaction and honoring its warranty promises.
Toyota Financial Services turned out to be the sleazy subsidiary that Toyota of USA tried not to acknowledge parternity of. Toyota Financial leased out the vehicle and then dumped it on the auction market when they found out the lessee had not properly maintained it as required by the lease.
Culligan Auto of Williamsville, NY another sleazy operation who in partnership with Toyota Financial connived the dumping of unsafe vehicles on the auction market.
Mr. Edward Wozinak formerly of Williamsville, NY and now Connecticut. What can we say? The man appartently never heard of a dip stick or the concept of changing the oil. As our mechanic said, Mr. Wosinak suffered a brakdown of moral responsibility.
Bertel Auto Brokers of Edgartown, Massachusetts who buys autos from auction and should know its business and did not. They did not disclose the problems with the car we purchased and then tried to blow us off when we asked to split the costs for replacing an unsafe sludged engine they passed on to us.
And finally, Toyota of Japan whom we thought would be concerned about the lack of customer concern by Toyota of USA and Financial servics. The mother of all Toyotas shamed itself for not monitoring it subsidiaries more closely. It has done a disservice to its American customers.
