The 40K tires lasted 15K miles, I then realized how limited the Warranty is... I now see why my neighbors go to Sams club for tires. Sames has good customer service. I will now faithfully go there for tires. I am told they are good on honoring the Warranty and it is not as limited in interpretation by the employees.in fact the manager of the store I do not think wants to see me in his store again&he was shocked that I felt so strongly that tires should last more than 1/3 the life especially since I had regular alignments and repairs as needed.
I also realized as for parts that Firestone gets down the block at a parts store they mark up to retail times 1.75 or retail times 2. However if you went to the same store and got the same warranted item at 1/2 Firestone's published cost) they will not put it in for you even if they are charging 105 dollars an hour. The smart shopper may look for an auto machinist that will not mark up parts or let you take non marked up parts to him for installation. I do not mind if Firestone marks up from their bulk discount purchasing price but 1.75 to 2 times markup on retail on top of 105 dollars an hour seems a lot. If a consumer feels it is justified or has had good experience with Firestone and their limited tire warranty, I welcome your comments. What I also do not care for is that the district manager does not have his email or phone on to take complaints on the weekends which is the busiest times. Many the concerns are isolated to St Louis and in particular the Manchester, Mo store. I have giving them many chances to right a wrong but they declined to budge.
Another suggestion for Firestone would be to provide free oil tops offs like Jiffy Lube. Now Jiffy lube in Ballwin, Mo is a great example of good customer service.
I am open to comments. If I am not justified on the concerns I will stand humbly corrected ; however if others have issues similar, then there may be a pattern
