In July 2,2002 i made my june payment which of course was late.in an attempt to keep my account from getting behind i made July's payment early on July 5th 2002. I made the july 5th payment over the phone and asked the rep if that would make me current and he said yes, i advised him that the july 5th payment was for july and asked if they had recieved June's payment and they stated yes.
To my surprise at the end of August my statement showed a past due amount, initially i thought it was because the statement had been printed already or something. I began to get calls in september regarding the past due, i told the rep that i had made 2 payments in july and that my account was not behind. She stated they didnt recieve the second payment and asked me to fax them a copy of the cancelled check, so i did.
I waited and waited for a response and never recieved one. Ultimately between september 2002 and june of 2003 i faxed a copy of the cancelled check 5 times and was told 4 times that it would be taken care of, 1 of the 5 times i got an extremely rude rep who stated their multi-million dollar company did not make errors.
I was eventually told that the could not correct the mistake because their computer system had changed and there was no way they could make the change given the mistake they had admitted to. I was told that my payment went to the balance and not to the past due amount.
When all was said and done, they admitted making a mistake but did nothing to rectify the situation other than moving my payment/past due amount to the end of the loan telling me i need to pay just a little more each month till the end of the term, FOR THEIR MISTAKE
