I took my Ford Exployer to Balise Ford to get my front brakes repaired. I was told from Mr McCarthy that the car would not be repaired until the afternoon. At 1:43 pm I received a call from Mr McCarthy telling me what At 4:53 pm I received another call from Mr McCarthy that the car was ready. They sent a driver to pick me up. When I got to the dealership at around 5:45 Mr McCarthy had left for the day. Another man gave me the bill & I was totally shocked when I saw it. I had to pay in order to get my car out of there so I did not look at the total bill & statements until I got home. I could not believe the costs. They charged me $715.20 for labor for approximately 3.5 hours of work & $630.65 for parts. All for a front brake job & a couple of minor leak jobs. I never saw any leakage on my garage floor or driveway so I am doubtful if there were any leaks. It figures out to $204.00/hr for labor. I also think the cost of parts waqs extremely high. I called several auto repair businesses & asked what their hourly rates were. They ranges from $78.00 to $87.00 per hour. $200 plus per hour is totally rediculous & I believe I have been ripped-off & I am really very upset. I am a senior citizen & a 100% disabled Vietnam vet who fought for my country for freedom, not to be ripped off by some greedy car dealership.
I intend to file complaints to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Complaints Dept at the Mass Attorney Generals Office & any other agency for consumer complaints.
