In Feburary of 1999 my husband and I purchased a 1998 GMC Jimmy with 35,000 miles for 18,000, payments 372.00 with a term of 7 years at 15.50. We were convinced that we were getting a great deal. The customers before us came out very upset because they were told they had bad credit and would receive a high interest rate of 19.00 per the sales person. She said we had good credit and would receive a good interest rate.
I have finally figured out that this was a terrible deal when I tried to trade it in. I was told the truck was worth 5075.00 when I owe a balance of 10,900 with the exception of 5 deffered payments. I calculated what I would owe Union Acceptance Corp., now SST Inc.in interest at the end of the term, 13,000. That is enough money for another car.
