Dollar Rent a Car
FRAUDULENT Toll Charge Scam

Re: Case# RT591043005

To Chase Cardmember Service:

I am formally notifying you that I dispute the $25.25 amount charged to my account on September 17 by DOLLAR RENT A CAR ATLC11. I launched the dispute on October 6th in my phone conversation with Chase representative Michelle Corpe. I am continuing this dispute after disappointingly hearing from Chase representative Aldwin Balde (in a 12-3 phone conversation) that the case had been closed after receiving (over-abundant but inadequate) paperwork from Dollar Rent a CarI received the same on 11/30. Here are the facts:

1) On July 2nd around 2:30pm, I rented a red convertible Ford Mustang from the Dollar Rent a Car Atlanta Airport location.

2) I drove the car with my family to our mountain cabin in Sapphire NC and then back to Atlanta GA, which is approximately 320 miles roundtripI had driven 414 miles total. 3) On July 5th around 5:20pm, I returned the car. 4) On September 21, I received a notice from Dollar Rent a Car (from their Vehicle Violations Team) stating that I had incurred an unpaid-for toll charge on July 5th at 12:47 am, and that I owed associated fees ($25 administration fee). 5) On September 25, after failing to reach a live person on their contact phone number, I emailed my response/inquiry (copy enclosed) to their listed email address. I had performed online research regarding similar occurrences with Dollar Rent a Car in which there were many accounts of apparent billing fraud. To date I have not received a response.

The purported violation is alleged to have occurred in Orlando Floridamore than 470 miles one way (940 miles round trip) from rental location. How could this be accomplished if I only drove 414 miles total (per Dollar Rent a Cars own documents)? Furthermore, I formally state (& can furnish further proof if necessary i.E. Affidavits etc) that the rental car in question was parked next to our cabin in Sapphire NC on the date/time in questionnobody was driving the car on a Monday, 45 minutes past midnight. Finally, the rental car did not pass through (or drive on) any toll roads during the entire rental period.

Apparently, in their attempt to paper your dispute department, Dollar Rent a Car neglected to send a copy of the alleged toll violation.in their response, they stipulate that your dispute department must first waive the Excessive Documentation Fee before they furnish the copy in question. (They could have easily sent a copy of the alleged toll violation instead of multiple superfluous documents.) Obviously practiced in dealing with your dispute department, they shrewdly deduced that their unsubstantiated (but prolific) documentation would resolve the dispute in their favor.

Here is what I demand (& your department should have insisted on) from Dollar Rent a Car: An official copy of the alleged toll violation in questionperiod. As your decades long customer (and as a significant business customer) I expect no less. I am disappointed with Chase that my interests to date were not protected, and do not want to invest more needless time in defending my position. Again, I want to see a copy of the supposed violation. Thanks.
