Sold car with problems and wouldnt help fix it

I bought a used car from All Drive Motors in Oct. 2010 and within 2 weeks I was having problems with it. Went back to the place, looking for the guy who sold it to me and was told by another guy that the guy had a "break-down" and stole money from them and no one knows where he is. So, I explained to this new guy the problem I was having and he suggested it might be a certain part (cant remember the name-minor), so I said "my husband can replace that" and off I went. He did and it seemed like it solved the problem.

A few weeks later, my daughter was driving the car and the check engine light came on. As she turned the corner, the brakes froze and she couldnt stop the car. She pumped the brakes and they finally worked. She pulled into a parking lot and called me, hysterical, and told me what happened. I drove to get her and being that we were right across the street from where we bought the car, I drove over there and spoke with Jerry. Told him what happened and he said he'd go get the car and bring it back to dealership and have his mechanic look at it. Told me to call him the next day, which I did and he said it needed to be "scanned" and that his mechanic is away on vacation. He said he spoke to the owner, Eric and that he could have another guy look at it, in Boonton. I asked "why cant it be looked at someplace closer" and he said the guy in Boonton owed him a favor. He would do it for free, but I would have to pay the towing. From Washington to Boonton would cost an arm and a leg. I asked him and Jerry what they thought the problem might be and got pretty much the same answer and that it wouldnt be cheap (cat. Converter). Asked him if he would help pay for the repair, whatever it may be and he said "you bought it "as-is" and you had it over a month", but he would "work" with me. I said I could pay some now and some after I get my tax refund. He said "if you let us look at it and repair it, we could work something out, but he said they didnt have a mechanic right now". Said the mechanic was on vacation and that when he got back he was going to be fired. I figured I let them look at it and fix it, because I could make payment arrangements. The car sat at their dealership for over 2 weeks and all I was being told was that they were hiring a new mechanic.

That never happened. Was told people called for the job, but never showed up. I got fed up and asked where there was a good mechanic that could look at it and fix it and they suggested a place. I took it there, they looked at it and repaired it and I had it back within 4 days. Cost me $250. I took the bill to the car dealership and asked Jerry if Eric the owner would help pay for part of it. He said "ask him, he'll be here in 20 mins". So I waited and Eric never showed up. Then Jerry called him and told him I was there to speak with him. Then Jerry said "he's not coming back to office, but here, talk with him" and he handed me his cell. I told him what it cost and asked him if he could help pay part of it. He said "no, you bought it "as-is", if I had it fixed there, it would be different". He apologized that they didnt have a mechanic to look at it and fix it. Total BS!

I said "ok" and gave Jerry back his cell and said that Eric wont help pay the repair. Then I here Jerry say to Eric "Ok, see you when you get here". WHAT? You just told me he wasnt coming to the office. As I left, I found out that "magically" they have a mechanic now. So what they did was, string me along, telling me that they were waiting to hire a mechanic, so I would get tired of being without a car and take it somewhere else, and they would be off the hook for paying part of the repair. Total ripoff place and they sell cars that are not running right. They definitely dont care about their customers. Hopefully they wont have anymore customers. They lie, cheat and steal your money, by selling you a lemon.
