I purchased a used Dodge Durango from these scam artists & was taken for a ride. They produced duplicate documents, on the same date (4/23/02) for 2 different prices: one closest to the agreed-upon price of $17,500 ($17,900) for the 1998 Durango and the other papers w / a non-agreed-upon price of $19,990!!!
I was conned by the salesman because it was a half hour before closing time, I had 2 small children who were tired & he rushed me. I signed both sets of papers, unknowingly, trusting his word. I had cash to pay for the entire transaction, but was talked into paying just $6,000 cash towards the $17,500 sale, taking it down to $11,500. The jerk financed us at a FULL COST OF $19,990 telling me & my husband-to-be that he'd "eat the cost of the interest & bank fees.." just make the first payment to the finance company." We noted that he got us into a 24% finance charge "agreement" but was told "not to worry about it; that he'd eat the cost..." Of course, this never happened. This scum took our money, sold us an inferior vehicle (needed a water pump almost immediately thereafter) and then stuck us for the 24% interest and fees.
We made a sign up, affixed it to our vehicle that read: "Lee Dodge Ripped Us Off" and Robbie Lee, the owner, has refused to recoup our losses. We have read that what he did is "standard practice" for car dealer scams. It must be stopped. Don't BUY ANYTHING from unscrupulous dealers! They will be forced to stop when they have a bad reputation for scamming customers! I have been contacted by literally scores of ripped-off Lee Dodge customers, one of whom LITERALLY drove her car through his front window at Lee Dodge because of what Lee Dodge did to rip her off! I am suing Lee Dodge & collecting data from scores of others to prove their tactics are unsavory & unethical. STOP THESE SCUMS from profiting off of trusting consumers!
