Took my car in to Precision Tune for an advertised free brake checkup. There was a slight squeal in the back brake drum.
After inspecting, Precision Tune said said that all the brakes pads and I needed new rotors! The bill would be around $450.
Since I could not afford $450, nor do I think new pads and rotor replacement is worth $400, I did the brakes myself. I found they lied about the brake pads needing to even be replaced! All brake pads had a LOT of life left on them. Also the rotors turned just fine for $10 each at Advance Auto.
The only problem with the brakes was a small pebble that had gotten lodged between the rear driver side pad and drum. All the car need was for that pebble to be removed.
Unfortunately I took their word for the repairs that were needed and had replaced most of the components before I realized they were trying to rip me off.
I talked with the owner asking for reimbursment for the parts since I had used his diagonisis for the repairs. He refused. It seems this is the way the Precision Tune auto stores in Aiken County and Augusta, Georgia do busness.
