On April 10th My roommate answered the front door, she was woke up from a nap and she wasn't sure who was there as we do not get many people come to our door. It turned out to be the postman he had been ringing the door bell many times trying to get someone to answer. When my roommate answered the door she was asked to sign for a letter. When my dogs heard someone at the front door they came running in from the back yard to see. They must have thought something was wrong as they took after the postman and alledgedly one bite the man and they scared him. He did'nt have his pepper spay on him so he ran for his truck and stumbled and fell to the ground. My dogs were put in the animal shelter on that same day. I was advised to not see my dogs as this would upset them. So It wasn't until our hearing date April 27th The hearing officer said that after the hearing that someone should take us to see our dogs. This was the first time seeing them. They were a mess they looked bad and smelled bad. I had noticed after visiting them that they were changing and looking very depressed and didn't seem to be eating unless I was there. When I was allowed to visit them It had to be a monitored vist someone of their staff had to stand there the whole time. Which was allowed 5 mins visit. I asked why and they said that was their rulesI It cost me $30.00 per day and they tried to charge me for spaying which was impossiable because they had been spayed before and in fact it was them who did one of the dogs. They were shown the dogs records at time of pick up and all of their shots records and spaying records. Again why am I being charged for shots when you saw that they had full proof that they were all up to date. I would think if they had checked their records then they would not charge me for all the extras. I got one dog out after 43 days stay and she was ill and had ticks and a ear inffection. I took her right to the vet. Now I have also been addressing this no mail business and for quit some time they refused to deliver any mail and I was told that I would have to purchase a post office box or I would not get any mail. I spoke with them on many occasions saying that there have not been any dogs at my home for 43 days and now what is the reason that they did not give me my mail. And again they told me that I would have to get ride of the dogs. I don't understand how I can't get my mail becasue it's to dangerous for the post man when he delivers mail daily to everyone else because this mail box is a community mail box and everyone else is getting their mail daily. The box is about 1/2 block from my house and I never have to see the mail man at my door because if ever there was a need for a signature I would go to the post office. I'm and elderly woman and am on perminate disabilty and and do fine it hard to understand the danger when this is safe enough to deliver to a community box. One of my dogs is still in the sacramento animal shelter in Sacramento california. I have been charged in addition to all the other charges $10.00 per day for that one dog. I am appealing to the court to get my dog out of this awful situation and get back to a normal life as we know it. I have had constent turmoil with all of this shameful behavior that the post office is giveing us. I have appealed to the the US rep. To help fight the Postal Service. As they are now telling me that the supervisor there says what should be done and it's done with no care for the hard ship this has caused me. They Postal Service man is back to work after having a 3 week paid vacation by the government and my home owners insurance has been dropped and he knows he is going to get 10,000.00 for he trouble. I feel that It must not have been so bad as He brought a picture of him with the newly made bit and he has a big smile on his face as if he knew what was coming his way. If my dog thought she was protecting us this is why I have a dog. I'm sorry for any inconvience to the man but I think enough is enough and why can the Post Office tell me that it is not safe to deliever mail to this box for me If it is safe enough for everyone else. My dogs are being persecuted for this by they may have to give up their life. I would appreciate some help hear as I am being singled out of an intire neighbor hood by the US Postal Service. This is retaliation by them and I thought that was illegal. I do not seem to have any rights. I thought I was in america not some other country.
