On monday the 29th i was in the process of making reservations to rent a 24 ft. Budget moving truck. I then called Budget rental in east hartford ct, and spoke with a lady about reserving the truck and i told her that i wanted to make arrangements to pay for it on my credit card because my father was going to pick it up and rent the vechicle but i was paying for it, she told me that i couldn't use a credit card over the phone because of fraud but that i could make the reservation and my father could come pick up the truck.
So i made a resevation for april 1st at 9:30 am... So the reservation said it would be $1115 plus a $150 charge for when the truck gets back i get the $150 back. So the total reservation was $1253.
After i finished reserving the truck i waited an hour and called her back, when i called her back she told me that the reservation did go through and i asked her if the price of $1253 would be the price at pick up time and she said yes it would if thats what the reservation said. On April 1st at 9:30 A.M. My father went to pick up the truck that i had reserved and even called in advance to make sure they had one and the woman told him that they had two trucks available.
So when my dad showed up to get the truck an hour later, they no longer had any trucks. So they told him he would have to wait until they could get one for him, even though we had reserved one. He waited 5 and a half hours before they could get a truck for him and then the only truck they had was a 16 ft. To give him. So they proceeded to charge him $1143 for the 16 ft. Truck for a 6 day unlimited mile rental even with the 20% coupon that he had and gave us no money off for the inconvience of waiting all that time and not even having the right truck.
So then we finally got the truck but now we had to wait another day before we could leave because it was too late. So i had called customer service and asked if i could talk to a manager because i was extremely upset about the changes. So a gentleman transfered me to another customer service rep and i asked her (karen) if i could speak to a manager and she asked me why so i started telling her my situation and then she told me that i would have to print off a copy of reservatio they e-mailed me and fax it to them to honor the price and i told her why do i have to do that when they should already know my reservation she said no i would have to fax it and i told her that i didnt have a fax machine and she told me that theres nothing they could do...
She was soo extremely rude to me i just dont understand why? Then when the truck was returned on April 7th we were 3 hrs. Late and they charged us $75 for an extra day $45 because the gas tank was in between 3/4 and full and another $30 because we didn't sweep the truck so they nickel and dimed me to death.
Then i called the budget in flordia where i returned the truck to try and explain my situation, only to speak with a very rude manager that would not listen to what i had to say at all and then hung up with me and when i called back no one would answer my phone call...
