Deceptive selling practices

US DIRECT PROTECT / NATIONAL WARRANTY SERVICES INC EMPLOYS DECEPTIVE SELLING PRACTICES Below are fully documented interactions with this company regarding an extended warranty for recently purchased used car. FIRST, on 2/12/10 in a call to US Direct, J.R. Roden specifically recommended and sold me a Southwest RE Hi Tech extended warranty policy which included - 48 month and 48,000 mile - $100 deductible - 100 mile towing - 24 hr roadside assistance - $150 rental car allowance / occurrence - Trip interruption $75/day for 3 days/occurrence. Cost = $2,886.00 SECOND, on 2/23/10 when the policy failed to arrive in a timely manner, I call US Direct and spoke to Hector who found the policy booklet had bee mailed to the wrong address. I expressed concern over the 30 review period expiring before I could review but he said he could not send faster than regular mail. THIRD, when I finally received the 1st Policy and found the coverage was by Marathon Gold and was inferior to the Southwest RE Hi Tech as I had purchased from JR Roden. I contacted US Direct same day and was told it was a simple mistake, I would receive $100 for my trouble and the review period would be extended to 4/1/10 and Id receive the Southwest RE Hi Tech policy immediately. FINALLY, on 3/9/10, I received the 2nd Policy and again found the coverage was not provided by Southwest RE Hi Tech but by First Automotive Hitech. This time the term reduced 25% from 48 months / 48,000 miles to 36 months / 36,000 miles and there was no explanation or refund for the reduced coverage. I called called US Direct same day and spoke to Dick, who said there never was 48 month / 48,000 mile coverage available for my vehicle. I then requested cancellation and full refund as cancellation occurred within 30 days of purchase. Dick told me to return policy booklets for refund which would be provided after the insurer was notified, policy cancelled and refunded money back to US Direct. Dick estimated I would receive my refund in 3 weeks. Wanting to expedite the refund, I asked if my phone call could serve as cancellation notice. Dick advised that a fax, email or phone call cancellation wasnt acceptable and that mailing was only acceptable method for cancelling policy.
