Damaged Wheels

Approximately 12/15/09 I had purchased four (4) Toyo AT tires from Jays to replace the Nitto brand tires that I had purchased from Jays two years prior. I took my truck into the local Chevrolet dealership, after the tires were installed, to have the truck serviced before I took a long road trip to California.in arriving to the dealership I recognized that they had put Nitto tires back onto my truck. Due to the poor tire wear of the cheaper Nitto tires was the whole reason to purchase the Toyo AT tires. Being that I am a long time customer of Jays (5 years), and have always received great pricing and customer service, I contacted Jim whom I always deal with and advised him as to the error. Jim simply stated to bring the truck back and they would make it right. At this time everything in regards to the wheels was fine other than the wrong tires. I made it back to Jays on 12/18/09 to get the situation rectified and arrived to Jays about 3:00 P.M. I was finally finished with Jays at approximately 6:30 P.M. Upon finishing up I went home to pack some items for my trip and then went to the car wash at 9:00 P.M. To clean my truck before the trip early the next morning. Upon washing my truck I noticed that I had small chunks chipped out of the edges of the lip of the wheel where the tire bead is and upon wiping down my wheels I noticed big gouges in every wheel and each of the center caps on each wheel were damaged/scratched from the air gun due to the technician not taking off the center caps before attempting to remove the lug nuts. Upon my findings I tried contacting Jays but they were closed so I inturn contacted some mutual friends who had Jims personal cell phone number. Upon contacting Jim he had stated that I should go onto my trip and when I get back he would take care of the problem. Upon my return I took the truck in for Jim to inspect the wheels. Upon arrival Jays was very busy so it took me approximatley 45 minutes before Jim could personally wait on me. But during that time he went out and looked at the wheels atleast 4 times of which each time I followed him out to attempt to talk to him and each time he stated that it would be a a little longer for him to take care of me. During the fourth time Jay had also come out to look at the wheels and attempted to tell me that all the gouges came from employees standing on my wheels of which I challenged him on his statement due to the fact that I don't allow anyone to stand on my wheels and also the fact that I take very good care of my wheels not to mention the deep gouges would have to come from metal gouging the wheels not the soles of shoes. Jim then added that they didnt have anything that would cause the damage and that the equipment they used had plastic tips to protect against damage. He then attempted to offer me an upgrade for the wheels and would replace my current wheels for $100.00 each. I advised him that I did not have $400.00 budgeted to upgrade my current wheels nor did I feel that they should be upgraded since they were just over 2 years old and that they shouldnt need to be upgraded had they not damaged the wheels, nor should I have to pay to upgrade being as the wheels were not damaged before I brought it into them and also no one other than them had touched my wheels. Jim stated that I should bring in the truck on a day that I can be without it the whole day and he would pull all the wheels and attempt to fix them the best he could, of which this was not acceptable to me being as how they were not damaged before I brought them in and I could not be without my truck for another day without any other transportation.in addition between the time that I spent on the multiple change of tires and my current visit so far I was already out 8 hours between the three visits to their company. Jim stated that was all they could do and that they would order and replace the center hubs at their expense and we both walked back into the building for him to order the caps and small inserts that were damaged. I stated to Jim that I was not trying to get something for nothing and that I just wanted my wheels the way they were before the damage. With no resolution at that time I left and was just going to wait to see if they followed through on the parts they said they would replace. I followed up with Jim a week later to see if they received the parts of which they had not. Through a connection at the local Les Schwab tire shop I met with the manager and without mentioning any names told him of my situation and had him look at the wheels of which he took me into their personal equipment and showed me where he thought (in his professional opinion) the gouges came from and showed me how it probably happened on the equipment they use. Upon my findings I called Jim back to advise him as to what I had found and to see if they had recieved the parts of which they still had not. To date I have not received any parts, nor phone calls from Jays American Car Care.
