I purchased a car from Rollie at ARJ's Autos. The car was advertised as a clean car fax. I asked the salesman for a copy of the car fax. He didn't produce it and the web link didn't open the car fax.
I took the vehicle to get checked at a local dealer. They ran the vin and it came back as a salvaged vehicle. This drastically reduces the value when it is a title in this category. I notified the owner Bob of what I discovered. He acted like he didn't believe me and asked me to call back while he checked it out. I call back and he gives me a story about a mercedes trade in with the title delivered later. The title was for a VW and it was indeed a salvage but it was an honest mistake that it was advertised as clean.
I told him I didn't believe him and I want my money back. He told me to drive it up there to Ohio. I told him to come pick it up it was his mistake not mine. I already bought a new key at 150.00 because the car would run it would lock up. I bought parts on e-bay vw book, light, and a stick boot (75.00). I also had the car cleaned and detailed as it was filthy when I received it. He asked me to consider keeping the vehicle even though it's a salvage and we would come up with a fair price. I later spoke with him and told him 2100.00 since that was where salvage prices are. I spoke with a person who deals solely with salvages. He said it's not a lawn mower and will just take it back. I said fine when and how do you want to do this. The holiday was approaching so he said call him later.
I called back and he said if I drive it up he will post date a check for some time in the future. I said when would that be? I want a certified bank check. He said call back and we would make arrangements for Saturday, Dec 7th. To protect my interests I want a certified check since he was complaining about his inventory shortage and not having the money right now. I don't wish to drive 150 miles with the vehicle if I'm not getting a certified check. My interests need to be protected. I have contacted the BBB, my credit card company, and a lawyer in PA as well as Ohio. I want this issue resolved and I want the car off my insurance and out of my garage.
I don't want to see anyone else scammed by this auto dealer.
