On 11/4/09 I experienced the steering wheel of my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder (52K miles, out of warranty) loosely moving from side to side. When I went it towards the Nissan dealer for fix, the free motion ceased, however the steering became very hard. Subsequently, once more, the controls started freely shifting from sideways. The automobile was fixed in the Nissan dealership by changing the steering column. I approached Nissan for assisitance using the price of the fix ($960), recognizing the initial warranty had terminated. Our argument was that I'd never had or heard about a steering line requiring alternative (cetainly not at 50K miles) with no automobile being involved with a. This case was, in my experience, an extremely concerning security problem. The Nissan area representative who had been coping with my submitted problem documented on 11/23/09 that Nissan might supply NO help for that fix.
