Installed new battery in my car backwards which blew out the the alternato

OI purchased a new battery from them and when they installed it they hooked it up wrong, (backwards).

This caused my alternator to short out so the battery wouldn't get charged.
They referred me to the local ford dealer to get it checked out. Called with no responce.

I needed my car to work right so i took it to my mechanic and they replaced the alternator. It worked fine after that.

I asked walmart to reimburse me but they refused, saying it wasn't their fault that the alternator quit working.
