VA DO NOT go to any Easterns Auto Lot! They lie, scam and will con you out of money!

I had purchased a new 2009 Hyundai from Eastern Auto in Leesburg VA. During my transaction I was placed in a very unprofessional, very non-business like situation. The dealership had charged me for a warranty that did not even exist. The dealership charged me $995.00 for a so called 200,000 mile bumper to bumper; but did not provide me with any paperwork on what my warranty covered. I contacted another Hyundai dealership and was told the warranty was only a 5 yr 60,000 mile bumper to bumper than a 10 yr powertrain. I had the option to buy an extended warranty only if I wanted one. I was never given that option. I was told that the car came with that warranty just like it comes with a steering wheel. I was also charged for things that weren't even on the car such as a pin stripe. When I asked about it - I was also told that they knew nothing about it. I was given a $1500 so called rebate that they said came from Hyundai (which it did), however was not told that I had a choice of either the rebate or a gas card for one year. I was not asked or given the option to choose. The dealership decided for me and lied to me. They also told me that I could not transfer my tags; that I had to buy new ones. They charged me for new plates. I live in MD and wanted the car titled in MD - so I was allowed to transfer my plates but did not push the issue.

On my contract the dealership did not place any information on the contract to show that I had a warranty. I called and spoke with the dealership about this and they told me that it is a FREE thing that they offer to their customers after the manufactures' warranty runs out. I have a paper showing that they charged me $995.00; and when I asked them what it was all about-they said they knew nothing about it and was in a hurry for me to come in and sit down and they would so call discuss it with me. I never went in.

I had also used my old car as a trade in towards the new car. The dealer's representative Daniel: told me that they had to write a check to me for my trade in. I had to sign the back of the check and sign it back over to the dealership. I did not know how dealerships handled your trade in once you sign it over to them. I was also told by Eastern Auto when the financing bank contacts me in regards to verify my information; I WAS NOT to tell the bank that I had a trade in, but that I put cash down. I did not do that - I used a trade in only. I called the financing bank I told them the truth. At this same time the bank asked me to verify my information and when they asked me about my references, there was information placed on the reference sheet that was not mine. I only listed 4 references and the bank said that they had 5 listed. Someone from the dealership placed false information on my paperwork. The dealership also sent the bank inaccurate/false information on the contract. This dealership wanted me to lie to the bank so that they could get their money. Eastern Auto would constantly call me and ask me if I had spoken with the bank yet. Until I verified my info with the bank, Eastern was not paid. I know now why they were in such a rush.

After my conversation with the bank; they contacted Eastern Auto and told them they were not getting paid due to a false contract. Not long afterwards on the dealership called me and cussed, yelled and was very unprofessional and demanded the car back. I did return the car back to them along with receiving my trade in back.

I have contacted Hyundia Cooperation personally and they are now aware of how Eastern treats the customers when buying thier cars and lies. I have tried contacting Eastern's Auto Sales Cooperate office and they refuse to return my calls. I have also filed complaints and reports with BBB and VA consumer protection agency, VA attorney general and have contacted a lawyer.

I am a female and learned from this heartbreaking mistake of trying to be independent to read and re-read any contracts in the future. I honestly did not think that any dealership was that crooked and would commit a scam like this. This dealership also charges $395.00 processing fee (which is not required by law) to the customers to forge, lie, conn and scam your documents before it goes to the bank.

These people may have been scamming people for quite some time and need to be stopped. Not only did I have this issue - but before I even went to the car lot I was told just how approved I was and that I could get anything from the lot. This is not the case - they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you in there. Plus " IF YOUR JOB IS YOUR CREDIT" WHY THE HELL DO YOU PEOPLE NEED TO PULL CREDIT REPORTS???

Do not go to any easterns auto lot unless you want screwed!
