Giving values under market value and lying about trade

I would like to warn EVERYONE who is thinking about getting an appraisal or even thinking about buying a car at CARMAX. I feel sorry for the consumer who is aware of their value on their vehicle and the ridiculous prices they charge for the cars on the lot. I took my 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser in with 11k miles. I have had it for 2 years and new it was worth at least $23-24k with the mileage and options. I wokred in the auto industry for 8 years, so I am pretty familiar with all the scams and leg pulling. My reason for getting rid of my car is we have three and in two years I have not driven the FJ that much. I call to ask how late they are open and the response I received was " Thats all you need!". Very sarcastic response. I decided to head up and just see what value I could get. I get a young kid, no worries as he is professional and nice. I take a look at everything on the lot and the prices are outrageous. For example a 2005 Mazda 3 with 50k miles they wanted 20k for. I said are you insane. Also, they had a 2007 Dodge Charger with 65k miles for $23k. WOW I thought as most of the cars were dirty and smelled bad. Well, the real suprise is when they came back with my value. Lol $20k. I said what, you have a 2007 FJ with 45k miles with less options on your lot for your non-negotiable price of $23k, so your telling me my 2008 FJ with 11k miles with MORE options is worth $3-4k less. LOL What a joke. The same car with the same mileage is at the subaru dealer down the street for $27k. NADA states this car is worth that much if the wheels have fallen off. My point being, if you are unsure about your value, please research and think twice about going to CARMAX. Check out what your car is selling for at other dealers and check NADA. KBB is good, but sometimes over valued. If they tell you wholesale, walk out because they are trying to take advantage. Now you wonder why others cannot sell cars because they try to take advantage of people. Well buddy, you tried to screw over the wrong person as I knew my values and the market. Thansk for trying to sell me an overpriced car and undervalue my trade. I am wondering if CARMAX took lessons from DODGE and CHRYSLER in negotation and value tactics. What happened to an honest and fair MARKET value? No wonder they are not selling cars.
