We just bought a car from Steve at VA Beach Auto Showcase. We were either told the following at time of purchase or it was posted in their online ad:
- they have service records for car (nope, or they're not sharing)
- spare key will be mailed to us (they don't have one after all, replacement cost was $175)
- they have the owner's manual (not true)
- "Inspection" light on dashboard was for an oil change (actually it was for an $900 scheduled maintenance)
And we just learned the car WAS in an accident. Here's what happened — at the time we bought the car (June), the CarFax report was clean. However, three days after it was purchased, new information was posted to the CarFax report - an accident that happened on 11/13. It was not labeled as a police report, and I don't know how CarFax came to have the information (those missing service records?), but it's obvious that it was withheld by the current and previous owners.
As far as I'm concerned, they've done nothing but mislead, misinform and flat out lie. They're the stereotypical slimy, tacky, and swindling used car salesman. Stay away and go somewhere else!
