These guys are crooks, and TXDOT confirmed it! I went in for my annual state inspection and was told my car failed due to 1) a leaking master brake cylinder, 2) a leaking power steering pump, 3) worn tires and wiper blades.in addition they said the belt was about to break. I was skeptical as I take pretty good care of my cars, noticed no problems and could not see any telltale leaks myself. So I got a second opinion, and the 2nd mechanic found none of the problems Spring City Auto Care claimed were present and needing attention to the tune of over $1000!
So I e-mailed the nearest TXDOT office about my dilemma, asking what to do next. They advised me to bring the car to their own inspection site. I did and it passed completely. They set Spring City straight (TXDOT said they had received complaints before, the latest just a week before me) and told me to go back for my new sticker.
That visit lasted all of 5 minutes. No apology, no sorry for the mistake, nothing from the management at Spring City Car Care acknowledging their attempted rip off! Unbelievably brazen! If anyone would like copies of my original report from Spring City Car Care and correspondence with TXDOT I'd be happy to forward it to you.
