Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Ripoff tricked and lied to us

My wife went to Enterprise to pick up a rental car that our insurance company arranged direct billing for. The associate explained to my wife that it would be $10 total for the damage waiver. She knew that our insurance co. Also covers rental car damage but as the associate explained to her "10 bucks total", she thought, what the hell. Approx 2 hrs after she picked up the car I got home.

I have a habit of looking over agreements/contracts, and I noticed her initials by the box that says damage waiver, $10/day. She told me the guy assured her this was going to be the total not daily.

I still suggested we cancel because I knew our truck that was being repaired would be in the shop for a while, and I didn't want any misunderstandings. Plus, we are already covered through our insurance. I called Enterprise, again approx 2 hrs after the rental was picked up, I explained that my wife was unaware that we did not require the damage coverage, and I would like to cancel. I was told that someone would contact me shortly, but after waiting for an hour, I called back.

The associate told me he had already "taken care of it" and did I need anything else. I specifically asked if I needed to come in, he told me he has already removed the charges from our agreement.

50 days later, my truck is finally out of the shop. We take the rental back and guess what? Nobody can locate any documentation of me cancelling the coverage. After speaking to the manager he explained that all they have is the original agreement with my wife's initials, and that I should have been told to come in and given a different agreement reflecting the change. You can imagine the scene.

59 days X 10 bucks, $590, for coverage we cancelled within the first 2 hours, and furthermore did not even need. I was furious, however, I was also SOL. The manager took 20% off as a "mis-communication" offering. Still $475 is a lot to just have ripped out of your pockets. I will never do business with this company again, and to others, I advise extreme caution.
