My 1998 Ford Expedition was trailored to Paul's Auto Repair for a coolant leak. Coolant leak was do to a hole in the coolant tube under the intake manifold. That was fixed but here is where the problem lies. Upon picking the vehicle up I was told it was running rough because it sat for awhile. (They had the vehicle for 22 days! We paid $640.00 instead of $692.82 because we paid cash. Only reason we didn't drive it to the shop was because we were afraid to do damage because of leak. It was started up and driven off of trailor and checked over. Sounded totally normal except for the leak.) We checked the mileage and noticed 22 miles added. We got approx. 4 miles when check engine light came on and it sounded like a bucket of bolts. It was getting worse, turned around and headed back to shop. Of course no one was there, all locked up and gone for the night. Left the vehicle there and called next day.
Was told they would look at it. 2nd day we get a call and they say cyclinder #4 is at 75psi's also fuel injector is stuck open. Going to replace injector will call back. Days went back and we called they said we didn't do anything to your vehicle, come take it to any ford dealership and if they say we did it, I will make good on it. Flatbedded to Garnet Ford and they told us engine is shot. Took them to small claims court and lost. At court they stated # 4 cyclinder was shot when the truck came in, yet did not tell us by phone or in person and did the coolant leak repair, new thermostat, fuel filter and injector.
We had 2 mechanics state that the vehicle was running fine and didn't have an engine problem just a coolant leak. Judge and Paul's auto made statement that it is 11 years old!!! Go Figure!
