After saving and saving for a 60,000 mile checkup in which I was finally able to afford after scrimping being a Senior Citizen on a fixed income, I took my 1993 Ford Taurus to a repair shop who had been refered to me by Big Valley Grace Church! I was quoted over the phone that my Checkup would be $150.00 as so I made an appointment to get the service.
My Repair / Service came out to a grand total of $538.89 of which I felt I had to pay to get my car back in good shape bebause of what the mechanic had told me. Labor alone was $289.44 and the parts were $227.26 and I was without my car for 4 days while this repair / service shop stuck it to me.
I relize I have a few strikes against me in the automotive industry being a Senior Citizen of 72 years young, Female, and My sons are not always available to assist me in these kind of matters, My Church was supposed to get a 10 - 15 percent discount for the referral and I was told the service was as low of price as I could get it.
My son is Furios of an Item that I was told had to be replaced which was the SERPINTINE BELT AND TENSIONER, My son look at it because I had it in my car and it was a little frayed (Belt) on one side yet he felt it would last a lot longer than 2 weeks which was what the auto repair person had told me, the tensioner was not damaged and would last many more years which I had kept to show others yet I was told it was wore out also and the cost of parts and labor for these two terms was close to $200.00.
The balance of the repair was for a standard way overpriced oil, trannnsmission, and coolent flush.
How can I recover some of the earnest money spent and save anyone else from this problem, I guess with a name like autohaus this is the way they do business in Germany.
