I was at the mercy of this service station repair shop. On Easter sunday while driving on interstate 101 to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles, I had a blow out on my left front tire.
After calling AAA and getting towed to this Shell staion repair shop for this was the only one open that could get me a tire. I asked for Michillin tires but was told that the wait would be 2 hrs. To get the tires. I was told that he could get me Goodyear tires that was comparable to Michillin.
I was charged $115.00 each for the Goodyear Wingfoot tire. I bought 4 tires to be on the safe side since I had many more miles to drive. The website for Good year states that this tire is priced low with high performance. My total bill came to $553.60 with labor and parts.
After checking around I found out that the tires were selling between $50.00 and $60.00. If I went to a tire company like American Tire Co. I was told that my bill would have been on more than $275.00.
Guess what, Jerry at the Shell shop said he wasn't making any money on this transaction, just the labor cost was his profit.
