Moore Cadillac
Killer Service

I had a 1999 Deville, bought from Moore Cadillac and serviced there for 6 years. I had purchased just about every thing they suggested on maintenance. I brought my vehicle in to have the battery replaced. When my vehicle was ready I was told that everything was fine and they would see me in 2 weeks. Within 5 mins of leaving and on my way home my vehicle started to race. I applied the breaks and the vehicle slowed down, then started to pick up speed again. I had worked on cars a little, home mechanic type stuff, back in the 70's and knew this sometimes happens when the throttle gets stuck. So I 'nailed' it and when I took my foot of the pedal it was still going fast. I applied breaks and tried it one more time. Still did not work. Some times the reverse is true - I applied the breaks sharply and the vehicle started to pick up speed again.

My exit was coming up and I decided to go home vs going back to the shop because it was closer to home. When I arrived home, I called the company. The service adviser was out, I left him a message. I finally brought my vehicle to the local repair shop - about a mile away. As I pulled in, the vehicle overheated. This was and is the only time this vehicle overheated or really had any serious repairs done. It turned out the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS) was destroyed.

I called the Service adviser when I returned home and was told that they 'knew' that the MAS was cracked and was going to suggest I get it repaired when I returned in 2 weeks. I was pissed, but I did not know what to do.

When I picked up my vehicle the next day from the local repair shop, I asked it this was an important part of the vehicle. The mechanic, a GM certified mechanic, said yes, why? I told him and he stated that no one who knew anything about cars would every let you drive that vehicle with a cracked MAS.

Well, as I wrote to the service adviser, if I took his word that they knew that the MAS was cracked and the let me go, then they were endangering my life as well as others - providing 'Killer Service". I never heard from them again, even after sending letters.

I did call GM to complain, they reviewed the case and paid for the complete repair and replacement of the MAS - admitting responsibility and guilt.

A Couple of months later my vehicle kept running rough and I brought it back to the local repair shop. The head gaskets were blown, and apparently for awhile. I asked if this would have been done when the vehicle overheated? The answer was yes. This is about 90-95% of the reasons a head gasket blows. My vehicle was only 6 years old at the time. While I was fighting the dealership and GM, the vehicle got worse until finally I had to basically give it away. That car was something that I had saved for a long time for and planned on keeping it for 30 years. I had my 76 Cutlass for 20 years. I took care of my vehicles and kept them in tip top shape.

The last several years of service there at Moore Cadillac have been terrible, and this action is unbelievable. I would never, ever bring my vehicle to any place that knowingly allows me to drive off to kill myself without telling me.

Moore Cadillac never owned up to it and actually blamed me. For what? I have no idea, I am not the one that knew the MAS was cracked, heck, I didn't even know what a MAS was. I still don't know exactly what it does, but I know that it is there and without it, the vehicle won't work. The least they could have and should have done is have me bring the vehicle in to look at - and they did not even do that - and now I know why.

Bottom line - Moore Cadillac is dangerous, dishonest, and a danger to the community. Stay Away from Moore Cadillac.
