My son bought a car when he graduated from college. He went to Fairfax Motors and they talked him into a flashy black Xj for $29,000. Then they tacked on another $5000.00 for a bogus warranty.
When he drove it off the lot it shook violently once we got on the highway. He returned the next day and they gave him a junk car to drive for two weeks. It was in the exact same condition when he got it back.
It continued for three months. Meanwhile the transmission started slipping, the electrical system went haywire and a fire started spontaneously while we were in it in the rear window. The oil light went on and we returned again and again. They told us it was a short and not to worry about it.
The engine burned out from a slow oil leak. The warranty company refused to cover it. Fairfax Motors refused to take any responsibility at all. We had the motor replaced and the rest of the car simply fell apart. A couple months later we took it to a reputable dealer and they told us that it was a flood car. They gave us just $10,000 as a trade in and rolled into one big loan; he basically is paying for two cars.
He has had to put his entire life on hold as he struggles to pay off the enormous debt of this car on top of the ripoff car he got at Fairfax Motors. Total loss; $44,000
