Misleading sales tactics with false promises on pricing

I was solicited through a phone message left from a Courtsey Toyota rep about turning in early my leased 06' van and they would payoff the final remaining months of the lease. So my wife and I decided to call back we had used that dealership in the past and it had worked out for us.

After contacting Courtsey through a call back I met my lead contact I inquired about the early turn in for my lease with them paying off the remaining payments with no penalties. My contact assured me there was a program going on with preferred customers with leases that were 6 months or less.

So I asked what the conditions were and what kind of cost were involved? She told me that if we purchased a new vechicle that they would pay off the lease very simple and straight forward.

We then proceeded to discuss the cars that we were interested in and finally selecting a model. After another call we broke down options and cost, I was then asked a couple of times to come down to do a demo.
I told her that between my wife and I working and with children and their activities we were tight with time and that we should figure out the cost and car and put it to bed.

After another phone call we chose a model with options and a price color was the only thing left. My rep then told me a price I got the price and asked for an email quote for out the door price which includes everything involved so that I could get approval for a loan from the credit union.

She emailed me a quote with a model, options writing me about writing a check back to me and my wife to payoff the lease. I asked her several times about the price and being the final out the door price and she agreed. So we took that email with an Out the Door Price total and contacted our credit union which approved for loan based on the qoute/email and the agreed upon out the door price on the email.

I called my rep and let her know that we got approved for the amount that was in the emailed quote. She was very upbeat and tried to arrange for us to come in and make a deal.

It took a couple of weeks to arrange schedules and make time to go down.in the meantime I was contacted a couple of times by my rep and assured her we were serious about the vechicle and that we had financing lined up.

Her manager also contacted me to find out if we were serious I assured him we were and told him about the quote and financing with the price.

We finally made it down there on Sat the 18th of Oct.in the afternoon showed up met with our rep who then introduced us to a salesman.

Took a couple of test drives them sat down to talk, I showed him the email/quote with price and terms from Courtsey and he read the email and saw the statements.
He excused himself and got the rep and asked her about the email and she confirmed it was from her and that her boss knew it.

The salesman came back apologized then said that they could not do the out the door price which included everything.

My wife and I were stunned to say the least, he brought over his boss who again apologized but agreed the email did outline terms and out the door price but could not
give such a deal away without approval I asked for the GM's card and contact info.

So he excused himself and went to get that information.in the mean time I had to excuse myself a couple of times to keep my composure and keep a clear head.

Thats when the original rep's boss had come over and started telling my wife that he had explained that even though they quoted an out the door price in an email, that there were other cost and that I didn't understand when we had a phone conversation. Which I completely disagree with him ever having the courage to explain anything with the few conversations we ever had.

I collected my children and walked with out further discussion, my wife stayed to talk with the Sales manager and explain how this person who had just sat down basically called me a liar and an idiot who could not understand the complicated car sales process.

We were very displeased with our treatment and the Sales Manager assured her that he was sorry that the he could not make a decision for such a deal that he would need to talk with the GM who was off until Monday. But that he would get him to call her on Sunday.

No call Sunday No call Monday, my wife finally called him late afternoon he had very little to say other then give him a couple of days till Wed. To make a decision. On Monday I called Southeast Toyota and complained about the sales tacttics used and they referred me to Corporate Toyota in California, who I filed a complaint and was given a case # number,

But was told that basically the dealerships are franchised not corporate owned they have been working with dealers on sales tactics flim flams but there was not real penalty they could give them.
