My daughter's Explorer was towed from a state highway after running out of gas. Before she could get back to remove the vehicle it was already towed following a phone call from the Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Dept. AAA stickers on vehicle were ignored and a local "good ol boy" towing company, Creson's Scrap Metal and Towing Company in Fayetteville, TN was called. I contacted the towing company and informed them that my son's shotgun, used for dove hunting, was in the back seat and I wanted to get it out. The rude owner stated "you ain't getting nothing out of the vehicle. I ain't releasin nothin to nobody 'cept the owner." The towing company owner had already gone through the vehicle, taken out the gun and had the vehicle registration and title in his hand. I called the Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Dept. And explained the situation. Deputy Jones laughed and literally stated "I ain't got a dog in that race. That's a private business and he has to get his money somehow."
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Nashville, TN and they informed me to call my local Sheriff's Dept regarding the gun. Creson's Towing will not release the vehicle or the gun to me after several offers to pay the towing costs for my daughter. Creson's is charging $30/day for storage fees. The shotgun was a gift from my now deceased father to my son when he was 13 years old. The gun is very sentimental and my son deserves to have it back. Creson's was told they could have the vehicle to sell at auction (or whereever they sell stolen vehicles) for their towing and storage fees, but I want my son's gun back. How cold hearted and vendictive can this world get? This is proof that Hazaard County is real and Boss Hogg and Rosco exist in Lincoln County, Fayetteville, TN. Removing items from a towed vehicle is nothing more than STEALING!!!
