Lithia Motors Des Moines, Iowa
Lithia Motors Des Moines, IA, Lithia Volkswagen Liars, Cheats, Disrespectful and Unresponsive. Stay Away

Below is the letter i wrote to lithia vw, addressing my concerns and frustrations. It explains it all. I never received a phone call, email... Nothing. That's all i wanted.

I then filed a bbb complaint, to which they didn't reply-therefore it's on the books. Completely unresponsive and unreasonable... Even after our long loyalty to the dealership under the previous ownership.

I am so over this and will never go near the dealership... But i want everyone to take note of this horrible experience.

Mr. Schulte & Mr. Brazelton,

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment in the way I have been treated by Lithia Motors over the past few months. As if my frustration and annoyance isn't enough, I am also offended and take the lack of service personally.

To begin, I brought my 2003 VW Jetta in during the month of May for problems with my coolant level indicator, speedometer, among other things and to have an overall check on my car as the warranty was almost up. I have the 'Vehicle Courtesy Inspection' form stating that everything is "Checked and OK" as indicated by the green circles. I made sure to tell the service provider I was moving to Florida and wanted to get everything checked out before the drive.

In early July my coolant indicator light started going off. This was the first sign of the coolant problems I had fixed in May, so I thought I would give VW service a call and see if they had any ideas. I called FOUR times, leaving messages every time. I would wait on the line as it rang, be directed to an operator, wait on the line, and then be put into a voicemail. Each time I left a clear and concise message explaining the problem and simply asking "if this could be a recurrence, if there is a recommended VW provider down here, and if the repairs made in May are under warranty from Lithia". Seems like a simple request. I had one call back from a gentleman, only saying that he would have someone else call me within the day-no phone call.

I never received a phone call and took care of the problem myself. I can't help but wonder if I drove a $60,000 car how long it would have taken to get a phone call. Maybe not, maybe that's how business is handled at Lithia. It wasn't at Jordan Motors.

To top off my frustration, I was having problems with my car lastweek. I took it into three different service centers in Tampa. Each of them said my car is dangerous to be driving and there is $700 worth of work that needs to be done. I need new disc pads, rotors, and calipers as they are all rusted out. I am wondering how it is possible that in mid May my brakes received a green light on the "Lithia Courtesy Inspection", and now my car is hazardous to drive. When I mentioned to each service provider that I had an inspection less than three months ago they each looked at me like I was crazy and expressed their disbelief that someone let me drive away in this car, let alone drive 1,300 miles through the mountains of Tennessee to Florida.

Please take these concerns to heart, my family was committed to Jordan Motors for years-but will never buy a vehicle there again and I won't hold back letting other family and friends know how I feel. I am extremely disappointed and upset-not just over your service, but by the thought that I was driving in a car I had been told was safe. That wasn't.
