I am from Jersey City and I went to bayonne to rent a vehicle from U-Save for Valentines Day back in about 2004. I rented a hotel in Woodbridge also so me and my girlfriend could have a nice 3 Day alone time. I rented a Ford Taurus. The car was fine the first day. We slept in the hotel and when we went to come out in the morning, the car wouldn't start. I called up the owner (I think he was the owner... He was about 6'2", overweight and looked either spanish or Middle Eastern). He told me the car didn't start cause I must have left the lights on. I told him there is no way that I did that so he said call the tow truck company and see what they can do. I said "who's gonna pay for the tow truck company?" he said I was. I continued to argue with him and realized that the nice guy I met the day before was really a con-man.
I called the tow truck company and the guy said the battery was fine. I knew I didn't leave the lights on. But the car still wasn't starting. Then the guy said "let me try something" and hit the starter and BAM the car started.
But the tow truck guy said don't shut the car off because it might not start again. I was charged $70 for him starting the car. I called the "owner" back and he didn't pick up. Since I couldn't shut the car off I had to go back home and since I couldn't actually park it by my house I parked it by U-Save. I tried calling the "owner" numerous times to no avail. Then I went to U-Save early in the morning and told the guy and "Once you park the car in the parking lot, you forfeit the remainder of the rental." To say the least I was furious. He was so arrogant and ignorant. I called the police to at least have some paperwork. Once I told him I was calling the police he said " When they show up I ain't gonna be here anyway".
Sure enough the police showed up as he closed the gate and was getting into the car. As the officer went to talk to him in his car, he peeled off. As I was explaining to officers what happened he showed up again to get something out of the store. The officers were questioning him again and he was ignoring them and even PUSHED a female officer as he was leaving. I was SO surprised the officer didn't don anything and just let hime leave. I couldn't believe it. But anyway the officer he pushed said that if I take him to court that she would show up and gave me her contact info because of the guys attitude.
I called U-Save to speak to the owner and a female anwered and I described the situation and told her the description of the guy that serviced me gave me the attitude and she said no guy fitting that description works there but she knows of the situation. The lady said that the battery that was in the car was not the same one that was originally in the car when I rented it and they believe that I replaced the NEW battery that THEY had in it with a dead battery. I argued witht he lady of how absurd this was and she hung up on me, I called back and told her I will take her to court if I have to and she said they'll be there. So (trying to find out if I can get to the actual owner) I sent them an email after that call hoping that that real owner would get it. I
I described the ignorant guy I talked to the same way I described him in this letter and the email repsonse..."Are you a racist". That's the response I got. And that took it over the edge. I got all my paperwork together and went to court and won be default cause u-save never even showed up! I was awarded about $700.
u-lose is a garbage. And the people writing back that are from the company defending them are probably the same ignorant and arrogant and RACIST people I talked to. Stay away. Far far away!
