I went to a local car lot and purcased a vehicle. I had never heard of Fifth Third bank until they financed me. Well, I had been making payments for 2 years, on time, and they repoed my truck.
I always had them take the payments straight out of my checking account so I knew they received it, and so I had all my bank statements as my receipts.
When I received my income taxes I figured I would just make a double payment so I wouldn't have to pay for a couple months. The bank gladly took my money and said that was fine.
Then, I get a phone call from the collections dept, Regional Adjustment Bureau, and they said that I failed to make a payment. What they did was take the double payment and put it in the system that I made 1 payment and just paid extra toward the truck. They never put it in as a double payment.
I called Fifth Third and they told me that they would fix it but it would take 10 days to process, but it would be taken care of. Four days later the repo man came and took my truck.
I called Fifth Third the following morning and they said that the payment still wasn't processed, but I would have to pay a $300 repo fee to get the vehicle back.
Once again the BANK screwed up but I have to pay for it. I am now filling a complaint with the Attorney General's Office.
